The mission of the Office of Hospital Affairs and Institutional Development is to provide for planning, business development, and administrative and operational leadership for hospital affairs and institutional development. This office monitors day-to-day activities to assure compliance with federal, state and university policies and procedures.

A. Hospital Affairs

Responsibility for the oversight of hospital-related oral health programs and activities is under the jurisdiction of this office. Development of hospital-based residency programs as well as new opportunities for expansion and collaboration with University Hospital and other hospitals and health care organizations throughout the state and country are also under the auspices of this office.

B. Institutional Development

This office provides recommendations for programs and strategies that are responsive to the changing health care environment while fulfilling the goals and objectives of the Dental School. The Assistant Dean serves as a representative of the Dean and Vice Dean to internal departments, other UMDNJ university-wide committees, as well as to external organizations. The office furthermore supports, advises, and develops strategies to assist all other departments and officers throughout the school, in fulfilling their roles in support of the New Jersey Dental School mission, goals and strategic initiatives.

C. Legislative

This office, under the direction of the Dean and Vice Dean, is responsible for monitoring, interpreting, reporting, and advocating legislative issues both state and federal, that impact on dental education, oral health and general health.

D. Vendors

This office, under the direction of the Dean and Vice Dean, monitors all vendor activity at UMDNJ-New Jersey Dental School and Chairs a Vendor application committee, which assists in this function.

E. HIPAA Compliance

The Assistant Dean serves as the HIPAA compliance officer for UMDNJ-New Jersey Dental School.

F. Public and Media Relations

Under the direction of the Dean and Vice Dean, this office is responsible for Public and Media Relations for New Jersey Dental School.

G. Emergency Operation Plan

Under the direction of the Dean and Vice Dean, this office is responsible for the development and implementation of the New Jersey Dental School Emergency Operation Plan.
