In conjunction with
the faculty practice of New Jersey Dental School, UMDNJ-Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgery Group comprises the private practice of the full time faculty
members in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. It is the
largest university based Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery practice providing
care for the State of New Jersey and beyond. All surgeons are on the attending
staff at UMDNJ- University Hospital. Our faculty provides full scope oral
and maxillofacial surgical care, including, but not limited to:
- Removal of non-restorable
teeth and impacted teeth
- Preparation of
the mouth for dentures (pre prosthetic surgery)
- Treatment of infections
of the teeth, jaws and associated structures
- Treatment of fractures
of the jaws and facial bones
- Diagnosis and
treatment of diseases of the lips, tongue, cheek and gums, and salivary
glands
- Treatment of congenital
and developmental jaw deformities (dento-facial deformities – orthognathic
surgery)
- Oral cancer detection
and treatment
- Treatment of cleft
lip, palate, and craniofacial deformities
- Removal of growths
and tumors of the oral cavity and face
- Dental implant
placement and associated bone grafting
- Treatment of the
medically compromised patient
- Treatment of injuries
of the mouth and teeth (facial and dental trauma both skeletal and soft
tissue injuries)
- Temporomandibular
joint disorders
- Reconstruction
of the jaw and associated structures following infection, trauma or
tumor surgery
- Surgical root
canal therapy (Apicoectomy)
- Surgical gum therapy
- Facial Implants
- Repair of neural
injury
- Facial cosmetic
surgery
All office based
procedures can be performed under local anesthetic, conscious sedation,
intravenous (IV) sedation, or general anesthesia.

The Center for Dental
and Oral Health is located on the seventh floor of the Doctors Office
Center (DOC)., based at UMDNJ- University Hospital, in Newark, NJ. The
DOC is a modern eight-floor medical/dental facility equipped with state-of-the
art equipment and employs medical and dental professionals who are specialists
within their fields. The DOC offers our patients with the convenient opportunity
to meet all of their families medical and dental needs within one building.

State Parkway to Exit 145 to I-280 East. Stay left to exit at First Street.
Turn right on First Street and continue across West Market Street where
First Street becomes Bergen Street. Follow parking directions below.
NJ Turnpike North

Take exit
15W to I-280 to Orange St./6th Street exit. Make the first right onto
Orange Street, proceed one block to First Street. Turn right and proceed
about half a mile to West Market Street, where First Street becomes Bergen
Street. Follow parking
directions below.
From Route 78,
East or West
(From Newark
International Airport, use Route 78 Westbound):
Take Exit 56
and turn left at the second light onto West Bigelow. Go about 3/10 mile
and turn right onto Bergen St. Proceed about 1.5 miles to South Orange
Ave.
For metered parking
in Lot 1, turn right onto South Orange Ave. and take first left into the
University Complex.
PARKING
A secure,
attended parking garage for 1,000 cars is directly adjacent to the Doctors
Office Center with reserved parking for visitors. As a convenience to
our patients the Center for Dental and Oral Health provides parking validation
for each appointment.
