Department Activities


Welcome to the Department of Periodontics web site. Periodontics is that branch of dentistry which deals with the study and treatment of diseases of the gingivae and supporting structures of the teeth. The mission of our Department is to train predoctoral and postdoctoral students at UMDNJ, to carry out research and other scholarly activities to enhance knowledge and understanding of the sciences related to periodontology and to provide excellent periodontal care to the people of the State of New Jersey. The Department has a nationally recognized periodontal residency program with a world renowned and highly skilled faculty. Members of the Faculty are widely recognized clinicians and researchers. The Department is an integral part of the faculty practice of New Jersey Dental School-UMDNJ. Please feel free to explore our web site and contact us with comments or questions. Prevention. This course emphasizes the fundamentals of preventive dentistry.
