E-Curriculum / E-Curriculum Brochure E-Curriculum Brochure A major component of the NJDS e-curriculum is the DVD reference library, a network-independent resource for the dental student. Each incoming student will receive a DVD containing the entire curriculum up front - textbooks, manuals and lecture slides - for all four years of dental school. The DVD contains:
Digital technology allows each DVD, weighing less than an ounce, to replace over two million pages of text, thousands of images and greater than 400 pounds of books and manuals. The DVD is packaged with an advanced query engine, allowing dental students to quickly and easily find the information they need, when they need it. Using their laptop computers, dental students will access e-mail, the World Wide Web, digital video, as well as other online resources, through a school-wide wireless network. Students, freed from the traditional computer lab, will be able to move between the lecture hall, the small conference room, and the patient clinic without losing their connection to the Internet. NJDS is also ushering in state-of-the-art electronic management of patient records and treatment information. Students, using their laptops, will be able to access their patients' records, examine medical and dental histories, develop diagnoses and treatments through the use of digital x-rays, and make appointments for patients online, any time. New Jersey Dental School, a leader in dental education, is committed to providing future dentists the skills necessary for clinical and professional success in the new millennium. The school was established as part of the Seton Hall College of Medicine and Dentistry, admitting its first students in 1956. From its modest beginnings, the school has grown into the state's major resource for dental education, research, and community service. The school awards the Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree upon completion of a comprehensive four-year program, as well as offering graduate dental education specialty training. Office
