Standards of
Satisfactory Academic Progress for Title IV and New Jersey
Financial Aid Program Eligibility - Graduate Dental Education
Programs
Annually, the University
Registrar and the University Director of Student Financial
Aid will review this policy and ensure the school's adherence
to it. The qualitative assessment of a student's satisfactory
academic progress is measured by each Graduate Dental Education
Program Director at regular intervals during and at the end
of each academic year following the guidelines set forth in
the Graduate Dental Education Program
Handbook.
Certification
-
At the end
of each academic year and based on the Program Director's
recommendations, the Associate Dean for Student Affairs
and Graduate Dental Education will certify the status
of each enrolled student to the University Director of
Student Financial Aid.

Certifications
are processed via the Banner Student Information System.
Requirements
for Certification of Satisfactory Academic Progress

A student
in a two-year program must complete all requirements for
the certificate within three academic years after first
enrollment in the program, not including any time for
approved Leave of Absence. The two-year student must complete
the following minimum percentage of total course work
at the end of each academic year:
Year 1 - 33%
Year 2 - 66%
Year 3 - 100%

A student
in a three-year program must complete all requirements
for the certificate within four-and-a-half academic years
after first enrollment in the program, not including any
time for approved Leave of Absence. The three-year student
must complete the following minimum percentage of total
course work at the end of each academic year:
Year 1 - 22%
Year 2 - 44%
Year 3 - 66%
Year 4 - 88%
Year 4-1/2 - 100%

A student
must attain a grade of P (Pass) in all applicable course
work prior to promotion to the subsequent academic year
as well as for graduation.
Exceptions

A student
who receives any F(Failure) or I(Incomplete) grade may
be permitted to remediate as determined by the Program
Director in consultation with the Associate Dean for Student
Affairs and Graduate Dental Education.

A student
assigned a schedule which deviates from the norm (e.g.,
repeating a year, extended program, etc.) and who earns
satisfactory qualitative assessment in all courses will
be deemed to be making satisfactory academic progress.

All exceptions
due to mitigating circumstances will be reviewed individually
by the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Graduate
Dental Education.
