Another

took place this past September when over 165 volunteers
were recognized for their participation in community service
activities sponsored by the New Jersey Dental School.
At
a reception co-sponsored by the Dean's office and the Division
of Community Health of the Department of General Dentistry
& Community Health, over 150 volunteers were presented with
a newly designed New Jersey Dental School Community Service
Pin. At the same time, 15 Excellence in Community Service
Awards were presented to NJDS faculty and staff and members
of the private sector for their extraordinary efforts and
advocacy of the dental school's community service efforts.

As
Dr. Feldman says, "We are very grateful for the help of
the school's volunteers and sponsors in reaching New Jersey
adults and children with our oral health messages and services.
Activities such as Children's Dental Health Day at the Liberty
Science Center, the Essex County Children's Dental Health
Day, the Special Olympics/Special Smiles event held at the
College of New Jersey, the Oral Cancer Screening Program,
and countless community-based health fairs throughout the
state succeed because of the tireless efforts and support
of our volunteers."
