CONVOCATION
2003
On Sunday,
May 18th the New Jersey Dental School held its Convocation for the Class
of 2003 at The Birchwood Manor in Whippany, New Jersey. Over 580 guests
attended this special event, including seventy-four students (graduating
with the Class of 2003) and their families, many postdoctoral students,
University officials and faculty and staff of the NJDS. Dr. Kim Fenesy,
Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, served as the Master of Ceremonies.
Dr. Frederic Sterritt, a member of the UMDNJ Board of Trustees, Dr. Cecile
Feldman, NJDS Dean and Dr. Mimi Vella, President of the NJDS Alumni Association
presented Welcoming Remarks. The students in the Class of 2003 were honored
to have Dr. Deborah Cleveland and Dr. Robert Nack hood them during the
ceremony. Dr. Fotinos Panagakos, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs recognized
the conferring of Specialty Program Certificates for the NJDS graduate
dental education students. Dr. Robert Saporito, Sr. Vice-President for
Academic Affairs, presented the "Stanley S. Bergen, Jr., M.D. Medal of
Excellence" to Ms. Jill Schwartz. Mr. Christopher Wahlers, President NJDS
Class of 2003, provided the Closing Remarks. A brunch followed the formal
ceremony.
