CONVOCATION
2002
On Sunday,
May 19th the New Jersey Dental School held its Convocation for the Class
of 2002 at The Birchwood Manor in Whippany, New Jersey. Over 580 guests
attended this special event, including seventy students graduating with
the Class of 2002 and their families, several postdoctoral students, University
officials and faculty and staff of the NJDS.

 Dr.
Kim Fenesy, Acting Assistant Dean for Student Affairs served as the Master
of Ceremonies. Dr. Frederic Sterritt, Member of the UMDNJ Board of Trustees,
Dr. Stuart Cook, President UMDNJ, Dr. Cecile Feldman, NJDS Dean and Dr.
Mimi Vella, President Alumni Association of the New Jersey Dental School
gave Welcoming Remarks. The students in the Class of 2002 were
honored to have Dr. Jeffrey Linfante and Dr. Zia Shey hood them during
the ceremony. Dr.
Fotinos Panagakos, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs recognized the
conferring of Specialty Program Certificates for the NJDS graduate dental
education students. Dr. Robert Saporito, Sr. Vice-President for Academic
Affairs presented the Stanley S. Bergen, Jr., M.D. Medal of Excellence
to Mr. Matthew Peluso. Mr. Kenneth Banasiak, President NJDS Class of 2002
provided the Closing Remarks. Following the formal ceremony a brunch
was served.
