ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS

The instructions and application form will be posted here in September of the year of application.

Joseph Pollack Endowed Scholarship Fund
This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of merit to dental students who reside in New Jersey upon admission.
Please submit a letter of recommendation from faculty member on letterhead required.

The Alan & Trudi Gardiner and Morton & Pearl Lowe Endowed Scholarship Fund
Applicants must demonstrate excellence, commitment, compassion, a serious commitment to their studies at NJDS, and financial need.
To determine financial need, levels of indebtedness will be requested by the office of financial aid.
Please submit a letter of recommendation from faculty member on letterhead required.

NJDS William Cinotti Endowed Scholarship Fund
Applicants must demonstrate leadership, outstanding character, and exemplary academic performance.
Please submit a letter of recommendation from faculty member on letterhead required.

NJDS Dr. Rita Virmani Mehra Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a female student.
The recipient must have 3.5 GPA or greater, have financial need, an interest in research and dental materials.
To determine financial need, levels of indebtedness will be requested by the office of financial aid.
Please submit a letter of recommendation from faculty member on letterhead required.

Edward Wolfson Endowment Fund
Applicants must demonstrate outstanding character and exemplary academic performance.
The applicant must have financial need and disadvantaged background.

L. Deckle McLean Scholarship Fund

1. This fund is to provide scholarship to senior students who are under-represented minority in dentistry (ex. African American, Hispanic, or Native American Indian) who demonstrates the following:
1. Desires to further expand their dental educational experience outside the parameters of the NJDS curriculum. Examples are completed continuing education courses, attending externships, shadowing in private dental offices.
2. Rank in the upper 50% of the class.
3. Good academic standing
4. Great financial need

2. To determine financial need, levels of indebtedness will be requested by the office of financial aid.

3. Submission of the following documentation is Required:
1. A Letter of Recommendation from a faculty member. The recommendation letter should be typed on UMDNJ letterhead and signed by the faculty member. Emails and copy of emails will not be accepted.
2. Original letter(s) of confirmation for attendance/participation at Continuing Education Courses, Externships, or Practitioner from Private Dental Office if shadowing was performed. (If applicable)

NJDS Endowed Memorial Scholarship Fund
This fund is to provide scholarship on the basis of merit to senior students who have completed more than the minimum junior year clinical requirements in all clinical disciplines.

1. Candidates should not have exceeded number of excused clinical sessions and should not have any missed closed rotations that require make up.
2. Candidates must demonstrate clinical excellence while rendering patient care in all clinical disciplines.
3. Candidates must be in good academic standing

1. Please submit a letter of Recommendation from a faculty member. The recommendation letter should be typed on UMDNJ letterhead and signed by the faculty member.
2. Please submit an original letter from the Group Practice Administrator asserting to overall clinical excellence and noting that the number of excused clinical sessions have not been exceeded.
3. Please provide a breakdown of satisfied clinical requirements

Dental Alumni Association Scholarships

• Students must rank in the upper fifty percent of his/her class
• Students must be in good academic standing with NJ Dental School

Please submit a letter of Recommendation from a faculty member. The recommendation letter should be typed on UMDNJ letterhead and signed by the faculty member.

NJDS-Hispanic Dental Association Community Service Award
This scholarship is to provide scholarship to junior and senior students who demonstrate the following:

• Show support and commitment to NJDS Hispanic Dental Association Chapter
• Community outreach participation/organization through NJDS-HDA events
• Participation in NJDS educational pipeline programs
• Good academic standing

2. Please provide confirmation for attendance/participation in the following:

• HDA member
• Community Outreach events
• Participation in mentoring NJDS pipeline programs (Dental Express, Dental Exploration, D/D, Gateway, SMDEP)

3. Please submit a letter of recommendation from a NJDS Hispanic Faculty Advisor on UMDNJ letterhead Emails and copy of emails will not be accepted. Faxed copies of letters of recommendation will be accepted.

Champions Endowed Scholarship

Recipients must have a 3.5 GPA and demonstrate financial need.

Please submit a letter of Recommendation from a faculty member. The recommendation letter should be typed on UMDNJ letterhead and signed by the faculty member.
