RESEARCH
FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
Electronic
alert services
are an easy and efficient mechanism by which to receive automatic
notification of grant opportunities that arise in your research
area(s) of interest. The most comprehensive electronic funding
opportunity notification service available to UMDNJ faculty is SMARTS.
SMARTS matches a database containing in excess of 11,000
funding opportunities (SPIN) with keywords representing the
research interests of individual investigators. The SPIN database
contains information from federal, state, private, and corporate
agencies and foundations and is updated daily. To receive automatic
email notification of funding information, you must first register
by entering your profile (CV information and areas of interest and
expertise) in GENIUS, which is an international database
of scholars and researchers.
Registration
in SMARTS/GENIUS will take approximately 30 minutes.

The NIH
Guide Table of Contents Notification LISTSERV service is an
email notification service that transmits weekly the Table of Contents
of the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. The NIH Guide contains
all grant announcements issued by the NIH as well as policy announcements
and other information of interest to biomedical researchers. Although
it is not technically an alert service, the electronic Table of
Contents contains the URL for each article, which allows you to
obtain the complete version of all articles of interest. To subscribe
to this service, visit the site:

Additional
services:
http://fdncenter.org/searchzone/
provides information about funding available from foundations.
http://www.grantsnet.org/
is a searchable database of funding opportunities in biomedical
research and science education. It contains programs that offer
training and research funding for graduate and medical students,
postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty.
Individual
Agencies:
In addition
to the above search and notification services, funding opportunities
might be discovered by visiting the websites of the following agencies,
which are primary funding sources for dental research:

Institutes of Health (NIH) http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/
The National
Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR)
