Students / Prospective Students / Postdoctoral / Overview Postdoctoral Overview UMDNJ's New Jersey Dental School (NJDS) is the only school of dentistry in the state. It awards the DMD degree on completion of a four year program and offers postgraduate specialty training in Endodontics, General Practice, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Medicine, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Periodontics and Prosthodontics. It also offers combined advanced degree-clinical specialty programs with the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. All Post-Graduate students are enrolled in a two year core curriculum managed by the Office of Academic Affairs. The New Jersey Dental School Office of Research through the Department of Oral Biology offers a New Jersey Dental School Seminar Series. Possibilites for clinical and basic research abound in these two schools as well as in the adjacent University Hospital and New Jersey Medical School. A large variety of biomedical expertise is available to students and residents in the form of world-renowned faculty as well as a multitude of publications present in the state of the art George F. Smith Library of Health Sciences. A modern computer center and academic media center are also able and ready to help with communications and presentations, when necessary.
