Postdoctoral Overview

UMDNJ's New Jersey Dental School (NJDS) is the only school of dentistry in the state. It awards the DMD degree on completion of a four year program and offers postgraduate specialty training in Endodontics, General Practice, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Medicine, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Periodontics and Prosthodontics. It also offers combined advanced degree-clinical specialty programs with the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

All Post-Graduate students are enrolled in a two year core curriculum managed by the Office of Academic Affairs. The New Jersey Dental School Office of Research through the Department of Oral Biology offers a New Jersey Dental School Seminar Series.

Possibilites for clinical and basic research abound in these two schools as well as in the adjacent University Hospital and New Jersey Medical School. A large variety of biomedical expertise is available to students and residents in the form of world-renowned faculty as well as a multitude of publications present in the state of the art George F. Smith Library of Health Sciences. A modern computer center and academic media center are also able and ready to help with communications and presentations, when necessary.

For more information about post graduate programs, please call the Admissions Office at (973)972-3636 or contact the graduate program director. For information about Infection Control Policies, please see The Office of Infection Control & Environmental Safety.
